One World Lounge - Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

A place like no other

Europe's first OneWorld Lounge, a unique space with panoramic views of Schiphol Airport. From the moment you enter the lounge, you are immersed in the atmosphere of international travel. The lounge, managed by Swissport, offers a luxurious experience that seamlessly reflects the character of the OneWorld alliance.

Assignment: Realisation of the new lounge at Schiphol
Location: Schiphol
Design: D/DOCK
Photography: D/DOCK

The concept and the challenge
After the closure of the British Airways lounge at Schiphol Airport, the need arose for a new, high-quality relaxation area. Architecture firm D/DOCK was asked to develop an innovative concept in which all OneWorld airlines feel at home. This resulted in an interior design that perfectly combines comfort, style and artistic elements.

Our approach
INTOS was asked to bring this ambitious vision to life. Led by Phil Rijkhoff, Project Director at INTOS, the 450 sq m space was completely gutted and rebuilt. Working closely with the architect, we created a harmonious interior, where every detail was carefully worked out. From the wall coverings and floor finishes to the installation of modern seating - everything contributes to a soothing yet invigorating ambience.

Solutions and realisation
The project presented some challenges, such as ensuring uninterrupted airport operations. By making the lounge temporarily landside, we were able to carry out our operations without inconveniencing passengers or airport staff. Just before completion, the space was made airside again, ready for use.

A festive opening
The new OneWorld Lounge was officially opened on 21 February 2024. Swissport and the partners involved were very pleased with the result. For INTOS, this project is yet another proof of our ability to realise complex, high-quality environments.
